This is a work in progress, started January 2020.
As I find things and try them, I will post here to share with you. What I ask, is that you share with your friends and together we will make a difference to the reduction of plastic in the world. I am not even close to the point of zero plastic, but making conscious decisions about what you put in the shopping cart makes a huge difference. Grocery shopping has become an interesting #ditchtheplastic challenge! We've managed to reduce our recycling volume by over 50% making small changes. It's amazing and I hope you'll take up the challenge. |
Hello and welcome :)I'm Pauline - and I'm on a mission to #ditchtheplastic in our lives and pass along information to help others as well.
After seeing the Netflix series Broken on Recycling, I was amazed, appalled and ready to try and make a difference in how I purchase food. We think we're being wonderful stewards of the planet by recycling, only to discover that perhaps only 10% actually gets recycled. The rest is "garbage" and is burned, buried or discarded in our oceans and waterways. Each day there are more and more countries around the world pledging to ban single use plastics. You will be truly shocked when you start making conscious decisions on plastic, just how much of it is in our lives. While I will be focusing on local options (Sidney, BC Canada), you can take this information and use it to find the best options for where you live. You won't be required to scroll through ads - there will be none. I discovered ads were appearing on my personal Facebook page and friends were assuming the ads were recommendations. By creating a separate website for information, no ads can be added! If you only do one thing...buy a stainless thermos cup so you can use it for water, coffee or tea AND take it everywhere! That is the single biggest commitment you can make. Pass it on! |
