There are literally hundred of recipes out there for products you can make and save significantly by doing so. We'll be trying them out and let you know about ones that are considered helpful. Sometimes it's easier to buy, if you can find a plastic free alternative.
I am trying to find plastic free alternatives as my purchased plastic encased goods run out. Check the New Finds page for the alternates as I come across them and here and the Blog for the recipes.

Beeswax Wraps - this will be our first community workshop - Feb 1st, 2020 to try it out. I've gathered the supplies - cost $75 and everyone is to bring their own 100% cotton fabric. We should get about 30 wraps from the supplies, so a significant savings over store bought. I bought a package of 3 for $29.99 at the BC Ferries gift shop.
Results of the workshop recipe try will be on the Blog afterwards. :)

Grow your Own
As spring approaches remember you can grow a salad in a pot if you don't have room for a big garden. Our issue is deer, so the pots are a safer way to keep some fresh greens nearby. You can stagger your growing season with planting of different stages so that you have fresh greens for the picking as long as it's warm. Check with your local nursery for beautiful pots and seed starts if you want a boost. This pot I purchased at Russell Nursery in North Saanich. Check the Blog for a great post from them. :) |
